Abstract
It pointed out the importance of genetic diversity in breeding of vegetable crops. Examples of successful use of domestic and foreign varieties and genetic sources of valuable traits in creating varieties of tomato and pepper. The positive role of recessive genes in parental forms at heterosis breeding is noted. It emphasizes the particular importance of international cooperation in the exchange of the source material, methodologies, publications.
